Russia: First Deputy Minister of Transport Oleg Belozerov appointed President of Russian Railways (RZD)

Mr Oleg Belozerov, Russia’s first deputy minister of transport, has been appointed President of Russian Railways (RZD) by Russian Prime Minister Mr Dmitry Medvedev at a meeting in Moscow on 20 August.

I made a decision to appoint you the Chief Executive of Russian Railways and relieve of the position of the First Deputy Minister of Transport

, the prime minister said at the meeting with Mr Belozerov. Medvedev noted O. Belozerov’s experience of working in the transport sphere. Mr Belozerov succeeds Mr Vladimir Yakunin.

Born in 1969, Mr Belozerov graduated from St. Petersburg State University of Economics and Finance in 1992, majoring in economics and industrial management. After several responsibilities in the field of Finance and Economics, as well as in the fields of Transport and Logistics, he was appointed Deputy Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation in 2009. In May 2015, he was appointed First Deputy Transport Minister of the Russian Federation.
