On 1 September 2015, Mr Sulev Loo was named chairman of the management board/CEO of AS Eesti Raudtee (EVR – Estonian Railways).

Mr Loo has vast management experience in international transit and logistic business. He has been the head of well-known Estonian transit and logistics companies such as N-Terminal Grupp, AS Milstrand and AS Pakterminal. Mr Loo’s previous position was CEO of AS Tarcona, an international company servicing oil, chemical products and other energy supply networks.

Mr Raivo Vare, the chairman of the supervisory board of EVR, said that Mr Loo is a person with broad knowledge and contacts in the logistics sector and hence is expected to strongly contribute to the future development of the railway sector in Estonia, to the qualitative improvement of passenger rail services and to oppose the recession of current transit flows.

Mr Sulev Loo himself noted that after years of managing companies in the logistics sector he would like to apply his knowledge in ensuring the sustainable development of the railway sector in Estonia.

On 22 July 2015 Mr Sulev Loo was put forward as chairman of the management board/CEO of EVR by the supervisory board of EVR who conducted a thorough targeted search for the named position this summer.

Mr Toomas Virro, who has been the deputy head of the management board/CEO until 1 September 2015, will remain the CFO/member of the management board of EVR until the end of his mandate on 14 January 2016.

UIC expresses its warmest congratulations to Mr Sulev Loo on his appointment and conveys its very best wishes.
