A trilateral meeting was held in Teheran (Iran) between the heads of JSC NC Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ), the Ministry of Railway Transport of Turkmenistan and Railways of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

During the meeting the sides reached an agreement on the establishment from 15 October 2015 of uniform rates across Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Iran for container trains from China to Iran, and the transit through its territory. The implementation of this measure will help to attract freight traffic from maritime transport and increase the attractiveness of land transcontinental corridors.

They also agreed preferential tariff conditions on the territories of the parties for the transport of grain, ferrous metals, aluminium and ferroalloys from Kazakhstan to Iran in transit via Iran to the port of Bandar Abbas.

Granted preferential tariff conditions for Kazakhstan’s exports will contribute to the development of new markets in India and the Gulf.

The Parties agreed that they would seek to establish single comprehensive rates for 2016 on their territories with the increasing volume of cargo in wagons and containers.
A trilateral meeting of the heads of railways of Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Iran is scheduled to be held in the second half of December 2015 in the city of Ashgabat (Turkmenistan).
