RZD International and JSC Infrastructure of Serbian Railways sign strategic partnership memorandum

RZD International, a subsidiary of Russian Railways, and JSC Infrastructure Railways of Serbia, signed a memorandum on strategic partnership in Moscow on 27 October 2015 during a visit to the Russian Federation of a Serbian delegation headed by Aleksandar Vučić, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia. The document was signed by the CEO of RZD International Sergueï Pavlov and by Serbian Railways Infrastructure Director Goran Maksich.

The memorandum defines the procedure for the possible further involvement of RZD International in rail transport and infrastructure projects in the Republic of Serbia, in particular cooperation in creating a remote control centre for railway traffic in Belgrade, the further development of the Serbian School of Transport Design and Construction and the possible involvement of RZD International in maintaining Serbia’s existing railway infrastructure, as well as assistance in training Serbian railway experts at specialised higher education institutions in Russia.

Since March 2014, RZD International has been implementing a contract for construction and reconstruction work on Serbian railway infrastructure. The contract was concluded as part of an agreement for a government export credit to the Republic of Serbia for USD 800 million between the Government of the Russian Federation and the Government of the Republic of Serbia. The total value of the contract is USD 941 million.
