The UIC Director General, the teams at headquarters, and all its members, convey their deepest condolences and sympathies to SNCF following the train crash in which a TGV test train set derailed whilst undergoing a trial on the new high speed line in north-east France.
The accident took place on Saturday 14 November in Eckwersheim, near Strasbourg, and resulted in a number of deaths and injuries among the engineers and technicians taking part in this test run on the new section of the Paris-Strasbourg high speed line not yet open to passenger service.
UIC joins in mourning the loss of the railway community and shares the pain of France’s railway family affected by this tragic accident.
