On the occasion of the 16th Meeting of the UIC Regional Assembly for the Middle-East (RAME) held on 20 November at the kind invitation of Turkish State Railways (TCDD) in Istanbul, Mr Abbas Nazari, Director of the UIC Regional Office for the Middle-East in Tehran, presented the new “Map of UIC Middle-East Railways”.

The second edition of this map presents all existing railway networks as well as already decided or planned rail projects in the region.
The preparation of this official Map of UIC Middle-East Railways was coordinated by the UIC Office in Tehran in close cooperation with all members and authorities of the participating countries. It provides an excellent overview of the future rail transport system in the region and its interconnections with the neighbouring regions of Central Asia.

It is to recall that railways of the following countries are UIC members and members of the Middle-East Regional Assembly: Turkey (TCDD, Chair Railway), I.R. of Iran (RAI, UIC Regional Office, Niroo Rail, Rail Pardaz, METRA), Jordan (ARC, JHR), Afghanistan (AfRA), Iraq (IRR), Sultanate of Oman (Oman Rail), Qatar (QRC), Saudi Arabia (SRO), Syria (CFS, CFH/SHR), United Arab Emirates UAE (National Transport Authority, Etihad Rail).
