In line with signifying the topic of “Safety” which has been among the main and inherent characteristics of this industry, and also in order to maintain, expand and promote rail safety to support noticeable measures in the field of improving safety performance, and to create motivating and competitive grounds among the operational fields and staff related to movement and also with the approach of creating closeness and more interaction between the railway and scientific fields, the Islamic Republic of Iran Railways (RAI) intends to hold the commemoration ceremony of the safety week in rail transport from 13 – 19 February 2016 in Tehran.
This year’s ceremony is the second year of holding the “Rail Safety Week” by Islamic Republic of Iran Railways (RAI) and aims to draw the attention of rail industry staff and those who strive to develop this industry and also passengers’ welfare to safety and its promotion.
The ceremony will be convened with the support of the Ministry of Road and Urban Development and with the cooperation of Iran Science and Industry University and there has been a compiled planning and policies for holding this ceremony in a way that all organisations related to the Ministry of Road and Urban Development including Road, Housing and Urban Development Research Centre, Construction and Development of Transportation Infrastructure Company, General Directors of the Railway Company, Iran Science and Industry University and other stakeholders are actively involved in holding this ceremony.
Structural changes have been made within the last two years to promote safety at Islamic Republic of Iran Railways (RAI) and the operational units and regions of the Iranian Railways have developed their approach to the subject of “Rail Safety” and various subjects and themes in the rail transport domain will be addressed and discussed in this programme. The Commission of Incidents in the regions has planned special programmes and will present them during the special days dedicated to the Safety Week.
Safety for line-side residents, Safety and Rail Training and Research, Safety Culture and New Perspective, Safety for Construction and Development of Rail Projects, Safety and Rail Crossings, A day without Accidents and Safety and Hygiene of the Environment are among the subjects that will be addressed.
Against this backdrop, a delegation from UIC plans to travel to Iran and participate in the above-mentioned programme. According to the planning, the mentioned delegation will present UIC activities and projects in the field of Safety and will hold a training workshop for the directors and experts of rail safety field in Iran.
