The PGE Narodowy, Warsaw, Poland will be the stage of the major European Conference on surface transport research, the 6th TRA – Transport Research Arena 2016.

TRA is supported by the European Commission, the Conference of European Road Directors, and the three European Transport Technology Platforms including ERRAC – the European Rail Research Advisory Council – and is hosted by the Polish Ministry of infrastructure and Development and the Road and Bridge Research Institute (IBDiM) of Poland.

The conference will take place from 18 – 21 April 2016, hosted together with other transport events. There will also be a unique exhibition for all the events taking place.

The theme of the 6th TRA will be – Moving Forward: Innovative Solutions for Tomorrow’s Mobility!

Jean-Pierre Loubinoux, UIC Director General will be speaking in the third plenary session and UIC will have its own exhibition stand, displaying its work in the field of rail research.

The scope of the conference will cover all modes of surface transport: road, rail and waterborne, as well as co-modality, applied to both passenger and freight, in urban, inter-urban and long distance settings. Airports are integrated for their contribution to the transport systems.

The following multidisciplinary topics will be addressed at TRA 2016: Environment – Decarbonisation, Sustainability and Energy Efficiency; Vehicles & Vessels Technologies, Design and Production; Urban and Long-Distance People Mobility – Systems and Services; Urban and Long-Distance Freight Transport and Logistics; Safe, Secure and Resilient Transport Systems; Transport Infrastructure; Human Factors, Socio-Economics and Foresights; Automation and Connectivity; Enabling Environment for Innovation Implementation.

There will, of course, be a number of presentations and dedicated sessions on rail and rail research and innovation.

As a wide and open forum open to all interested parties, it is a unique occasion to promote and improve European competitiveness and efficiency in transportation. TRA is therefore the place to be for all colleagues interested in rail research, development and innovation and the role of rail within the European surface transport system.

NB: The Early Bird registration rate expires on 15 February 2016. This means that you have just under one week to benefit from almost 40% off the full price!
