An electronic information exchange system has been created as a result of collaboration between World Business Solutions (WBS), a branch of Georgian Railways, commercial services and the Georgian customs office. The system enables customs officers to control distribution and electronic information of freight movement.

Henceforth, this exchange electronic information will enable customs officers to sign and process documents more quickly and at a lesser cost. Until now, customs procedures have been relatively long, requiring several visits by both customers and customs officers.

During International Customs Day, the Head of the Customs Office Vladimer Khundadze noted the significance of coordinated action with the project leaders of Georgian Railways. Thanks to the technical assistance of Georgian Railways and other international organisations, Georgia now has a more effective and modern customs agency.

During a special ceremony, the director of Georgian Railways’ World Business Solutions Levan Kukava, who was head of the aforementioned project group, was awarded a Certificate of Merit by the Secretary General of the World Customs Organisation for “rendering exceptional service to the international customs community”.
