International Railway Safety Council (IRSC) to be held from 2 – 7 October 2016 in Paris

On behalf of the 26th International Railway Safety Council (IRSC) Organising Committee, consisting of the French Public Railway Group (SNCF) and the French Railway Safety
Authority (EPSF), UIC is very pleased to invite you to attend the next IRSC, which will be held from 2 – 7 October 2016 in Paris.

The call for abstracts is now open. Details can be found on the IRSC website www.irsc2016.org. The closing date to submit abstracts of presentations is the 31 March.

Registration for IRSC Paris 2016 will soon be open.

UIC supports and will participate in IRSC in Paris. As a major sponsoring partner UIC will offer simultaneous English-French interpreting during the three-day conference and the Farewell Party on Wednesday, 5 October 2016.

The International Railway Safety Council (IRSC) 2016 is the major platform for the exchange of knowledge and experience in the field of railway safety. Meet top safety experts from all over the world, discuss the latest trends in railway safety and benefit from a large international network. The IRSC 2016 will bring together experts from infrastructure management, railway undertakings, safety authorities, accident investigation offices, railway industries, regulatory bodies and associations.

The overarching theme of the IRSC 2016 is “Railway safety: meeting the challenges of tomor-row’s society” with the following sub-themes:

  • Safe traffic management in high-density areas
  • Safely managing passenger flows
  • The transport of the future and the imperatives of safety
  • Availability of components and maintaining the safety of the rail system
  • Safely managing crises
  • The challenges of sustainable development with regard to safety constraints

The IRSC presentations and discussions will run from Sunday, 2 October, to Wednesday, 5 October 2016, at the Pullman Hotel Paris Centre-Bercy. On Thursday, 6 October, and Friday, 7 October 2016, a programme of technical visits will be proposed.
