On the occasion of the 21st UIC Asia-Pacific Regional Assembly held on 10 May 2016 in Beijing, China, ISO and UIC signed a letter of intent expressing the interest and commitment to continue their discussions to formalise cooperation arrangements between the two organisations

They jointly:
• acknowledge the exchange between ISO President, Dr Zhang Xiaogang, and the UIC Director General Mr Jean-Pierre Loubinoux;
• express their appreciation for the existing ISO-UIC cooperation; and
• look forward to concluding discussions on a proposed Cooperation Agreement between ISO and UIC.
