China: New railway station for high speed trains in Urumqi

The 1 776 km high speed line linking Lanzhou and Urumqi has been in operation since 16 November 2014. Trains run at a maximum speed of 250 km/h.

The new high speed station in Urumqi will open to the public next month.

The construction of the new Urumqi HS station started in 2012 and will be in operation by the end of June 2016.

The huge waiting hall of the new station will hold 8000 passengers at the same time.

The maximum capacity for the station will be 240,000 passengers per day.
