Správa železniční dopravní cesty (the Czech Railway Infrastructure Administration) has improved parameters on three railway lines in the Liberec Region. The main objective of these projects was to achieve a technical state corresponding to EU parameters and standards.

The following projects were implemented:

Line 030 Jaroměř – Liberec on the Stará Paka – Malá Skála section
Line 030 Jaroměř – Liberec on the Turnov – Liberec section
Line 036 Liberec – Tanvald

Projects on the above-mentioned lines included adaptations of the railway superstructure and substructure, platforms, bridges, culverts, railway crossings and walls. Electrical heating of switches was adapted as well in order to ensure greater safety of railway operations and functionality, especially during winter. The renewal of selected distribution systems and elements of safety and signalling installations was also part of the construction.

“One of the most important assets of all construction work carried out is greater travel comfort and safety on these railway lines. The projects’ implementation allowed full use of possibilities offered by the current infrastructure on the line sections concerned which will result in shorter journey times, better turnover of the train-sets and improved train connections. Railway transport will thus become more attractive for the travelling public”, said Mr Pavel Surý, Director General of SŽDC.

All the projects mentioned above will contribute considerably to better transport availability, decreasing operation costs and ensuring infrastructure capacity as well as railway transport quality. Another positive impact will be an increase of railway operation smoothness and safety.

The total estimated cost of the construction designated as Line 030 Jaroměř – Liberec on the Stará Paka – Malá Skála section amounted to 560,440,328 CZK (VAT excluded).
