The Railway Infrastructure Administration has reconstructed a railway
bridge on the single-track regional line from Lovosice – Česká Lípa main station. Implementation of the project contributed to the increase of traffic availability, shortening of travel times, and also greater passenger comfort.

The project included the renovation of 10 bridges on the line section between Lovosice and Žalhostice. The main subject of the project, however, was the reconstruction of the bridge at 38.816 km, which consisted in the removal of the existing steel structure, reinforcement of pillars in the river by pre-loaded rods, subsoil improvement of all pillars by jet grouting, building new storage shelves, and installation of a new steel structure. The works also included renovations of platforms and reconstruction of railway superstructure.

"The project will reflect not only in operational savings. It will also increase transport safety and the trains will be able to cross Elbe in higher speeds than before. Passengers will certainly appreciate the resulting shortening of travel times,” said CEO of the RIA Pavel Surý.

The project is in line with the global objective of OPT’s priority axis 3 - improvement of rail transport outside the trans-European transport network TEN-T. The project will reduce requirements for maintenance of the bridge and allow continued operation of the line at the desired load class, spatial continuity, and line speed. Another positive impact of the reconstruction is an increase of traffic availability and line speed from 50 to 90 km/h.

The estimated total cost of the project titled “Reconstruction of the bridge at 38.816 km on the line from Lovosice – Česká Lípa amounted to CZK 322,322,052 (excl. VAT). The project was co-financed by the EU within the Operational Programme Transport. The maximum amount of support was CZK 239,398,881. The national funding was provided by the State Transport Infrastructure Fund. The contractor was Společnost most Lovosice – Česká Lípa, which consisted of SMP CZ, a.s., Chládek & Tintěra, a.s., HABAU CZ. s.r.o. and Bilfinger MCE Slaný s.r.o.
