To thoroughly implement National Strategy on Innovation-Driven Development and steadfastly promote independent development and modernisation of railway technology and equipment, Chinese Railways pulled the wisdom of domestic enterprises, colleges and research institutes, and developed the world-class China Standard EMU Trains with full independent IPRs.

From July 1 to 15, comprehensive tests of such EMUs were carried out on Zhengzhou-Xuzhou High-Speed Railway. The tests recorded a highest speed of 420km/h, when two single trains passed each other in opposite direction and when two single trains were coupled together in operation, which is the highest operating speed of EMUs ever achieved in the world in practical operation environment and conditions.
