Indian Railways delegation visits UIC on 21 July 2016

Mr Mohd. Jamshed, appointed as Member Traffic, Railway Board, in December 2015, accompanied by Mr Sanjay Bajpai, Executive Director, visited UIC Headquarters on 21 July 2016.

UIC Director of Finance Mr Thierry Bera delivered a general presentation about UIC.
Mr Hans-Günther Kersten, UIC Director of the Freight Department and Mr Bernard Schmitt, UIC Freight Advisor, presented the activities of the department at UIC, including infrastructure, rolling stock and operation key challenges and the e-WAG project (standard communication protocol of rolling stock). Mr Marc Antoni, UIC Director of the UIC Rail System Department, focused on the issues of standardisation and signalling. Mr Airy Magnien, UIC Head of the Data, Statistics and Economics Unit, explained the activities of his unit and pointed out the importance of collecting the statistics of the members.

After these presentations, a discussion was held on the cooperation between Indian Railways and UIC, such as the possible secondment of staff to UIC and the participation of IR in UIC events, working groups and platforms.

Indian Railways kindly confirmed to host the 4th UIC Asia-Pacific Workshop on Control Command and Signalling (CCS), from 9 – 10 November 2016, in India.
