The organiser of the Conference on "Railway 4.0 – the Foundation "Pro Rail” invited several dozen potential partners, including the International Union of Railways (UIC) and the rail industry. The event targeted the key stakeholders in the rail sector, as well as those interested in the supply industry, logistics and the wider economy.
The conference programme consisted of the introductory part and two discussion panels separated by an interval. Due to the diverse backgrounds of the speakers and participants, the meeting was conducted in Polish and English with simultaneous interpreting.
The authors of the introductory speeches and panel discussion participants were international experts – including representatives of international institutions and managers of railway companies from Western Europe.
Topics included new business models, organisational and technological innovation, tools, big data, Shift2Rail, the flexibility of the regulatory environment, the capacity of the legal system, railway and start-ups.
The UIC granted its patronage to the event and Mr Adam Wieladek – Honorary UIC Chairman gave a speech on behalf of UIC. He focused on the innovations within railway the sector and UIC’s response on the era of digitalisation.
