On 3 November 2016, the Minister of Transport, Construction and Regional Development of the Slovak Republic Mr Árpád Érsek appointed Mr Martin Erdössy (Мартин Эрдеши) as the new Director General of ŽSR.

Mr Erdössy previously worked for the Bratislava Transport Company (BTC) as Director of Infrastructure and Electric Railways, where he led a section comprising more than 1,000 employees and was responsible for operation and maintenance of transport infrastructure and vehicles. He was also Member of the Board of BTC, but after taking up the new position at ŽSR he decided to leave the Board position: “I want to fully focus on the Director General´s duties and responsibilities. I would like to thank the Minister and the Board for their confidence and also for taking stock of my outlook on how to make the railways advance. ŽSR is a company with long tradition and I take the opportunity to manage this organisation as a great professional and personal challenge,” said Erdössy.

Mr Erdössy, born in 1971, is married and has two children.
