On 7 March, the new Chairman of the UIC Legal Group, Mr Enrico Trapazzo, Trenitalia, came to UIC to meet Mr Jean-Pierre Loubinoux, UIC Director General, Mr Thierry Béra, UIC Finance Director, and Ms Emmanuelle Nedjar, UIC Legal Affairs Manager.

Mr Trapazzo has succeeded Ms Henuset, SNCB, who has recently retired.
Mr Trapazzo’s expertise includes an interesting mix of international experience, legal practice and rail business knowledge. Moreover, he is an expert of EU rail legislation and railway models around the world.

He is currently acting as Deputy Director for Passenger Affairs within the Trenitalia Legal Department.

The UIC Legal Group is open to all Legal Directors – representatives of UIC members. The main objectives of the group are to defend the joint interests of UIC members in legal affairs and to follow any legal proceedings relating to UIC as well as to promote the exchange of technical information and experience between the legal experts of UIC members.

The subjects of discussion of the meeting on 7 March included renewing links between members of the group and European legal subjects such as 4th Railway Package and open data treatment including personal and business data such as MERITS.

Two UIC Legal Group meetings are scheduled for this year:

  • 15 – 16 May at UIC-HQ Paris
  • 21 – 22 September in Rome as a part of the UIC Digital Days
