Kazakhstan: Results of the cooperation of the Commonwealth’s railways were considered in Moscow

On 18-19 May, the delegation of JSC NC Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ) headed by the company’s CEO Kanat Alpysbaev took part in the 66th meeting of the Council for Rail Transport of the Commonwealth member states in Moscow.

The current meeting was held on the 25th anniversary of the Council’s formation. In 1992, the leaders of the Commonwealth countries adopted a strategically important decision to create an interstate body that coordinates the work and development of railways in the post-Soviet space.

The Council for Railway Transport is one of the first integration associations, fulfilling an important and effective role in the development of cooperation of the CIS countries.

Over the years, the Council has established itself as an authoritative intergovernmental body for economic cooperation. A constructive and businesslike approach, systemic and efficient, ensures smooth and uninterrupted operation of the railways in the “1520 space”.

Heads of railway administrations of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, as well as associate members of the Council - heads of railway administrations of Bulgaria, Georgia, Latvia and Finland attended the meeting. Representatives of the railway administrations of Iran and the International Confederation of Trade Unions of Railway Workers and Transport Builders attended as observers.

The results of the decisions of the 65th meeting of the Council, the operational work of the railway network, the activities of the passenger complex in international traffic for 2016 and the first quarter of 2017 were summed up.

For the great contribution to international cooperation, K. Alpysbaev head of the JSC NC “KTZ” was awarded with a badge “Honorary Railwayman”. A number of the Company’s employees were awarded with the Certificate of Honour of the Council for Rail Transport of the Commonwealth members.

More than 10 issues were considered and agreed upon to ensure the smooth operation of the railway transport, unimpeded movement of passenger and freight trains on the railway network of the countries participating in the meeting.
The plan of loading of cargoes in comparison with 2015 is executed on 100, 9%. In the first quarter of this year, compared with the same period in 2016 loading increased by 5.8%.

In the past year, 1946.9 million tons of cargo were transported, in the first quarter of 2017 - 480, 4 million tons of cargo.

JSC NC Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ) is among the railway administrations that exceeded the accepted obligations for loading cargo in the past year and in the first quarter of this year (1.8% and 8.1% respectively).

In total for January-March, 2017 the company transported more than 4.5 thousand passengers.
