EUROASIA WEEK took place in Astana (Kazakhstan) from 24 – 25 August at the kind invitation of Mr Zhunusov, Minister in charge of Energy and Infrastructure.
UIC was represented by Francis Bedel, Chief Digital Officer.
During his presentation, he presented UIC and the Digital Platform activities, focusing on the opportunities of the digital revolution for the rail industry.
Francis Bedel mentioned the risks linked to the Digital issue that had to be considered, particularly the important issue of cybersecurity.
Digital is a unique chance for the rail sector to face new challenges and to remain one of the key actors of the 21st century.
Mobility is the challenge, Rail is the answer, Digital is the lever!
The conference was attended by a large audience with the active participation of politicians, institutional organisations and industry.
The next day, a bilateral meeting was held between KTZ and UIC focusing on the sharing of the digital approach.
A very fruitful exchange was achieved which should lead to stronger cooperation between KTZ and UIC following the UIC philosophy: Share – Open – Connect
Jean-Pierre Loubinoux, UIC Director General, stressed the importance of the KTZ network and the impact of digitisation on all rail networks and operators. UIC is at their service and is developing its system and services activities for this purpose.
