The 10th World Congress on High Speed Rail, jointly organised by UIC and Turkish State Railways TCDD together with CMS Project, will take place on 8-10 May 2018 in Ankara, Republic of Turkey.
This international event that has become a reference at global level for exchanging on all issues connected to high speed rail, is organised under the High Patronage of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Turkey, with the support of the Ministry of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications and several leading international organisations such as OTIF, the Intergovernmental Organisation for International Carriage by Rail, the Organisation of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation BSEC and more organisations to come.
The main theme of this 10th High Speed Rail congress edition will be “Sharing knowledge for sustainable and competitive operations”.
As UIC Director General Jean-Pierre Loubinoux stresses, “the UIC High Speed Rail world congresses provide every two or three years a unique opportunity to exchange information and best practices on all aspects related to the development of competitive, sustainable and efficient high-performance passenger transportation systems. The congress gathers all actors and stakeholders of these developments, including governments, international organisations, NGOs and financial institutions, railways and their suppliers, research bodies and universities, and all partners cooperating at different degrees with the railway developers. The 10th World congress in 2018 should put a strong focus on new opportunities opened up by the digital revolution for sustainable operations and increased synergies between the rail sector and universities as well as the research world including start-ups, on intramodal connections and multimodality...
The High Speed Rail congress that is taking place for the first time in Turkey will provide a unique overview of the latest developments in the field of high speed rail and more generally rail transportation in this particularly dynamic region at the crossroads of Europe, Asia and the Middle-East”.
Launch of Call for Papers
The schedule for submitting is:
Not later than 15 October 2017: proposals with abstract (1,000 characters at a maximum), a short biography and a photo (identity format).
Not later than 08 January 2018: the Scientific Committee will inform each applicant speaker of its decision by e-mail stating whether they have been selected, not selected or put on a waiting list.
Not later than 01 April 2018: full presentations (corresponding to selected abstract) will be handed in. Non-compliance with this deadline will entitle the Scientific Committee to reject the presentation.
Some potential speakers already sent their abstracts a few months ago, before the postponement of the Congress (initially planned to be held in July 2017). Of course, their abstracts. are still valid, but potential speakers can either keep their abstracts as they are currently or make changes or updates.
Finally, UIC and TCDD will create a pre-selection jury team, in order to analyse proposed abstracts and decide on the final list of speakers.
