EMU Train D7578 from Changsha to Shimen North departed from Changsha Railway Station at 8am on 21 September, marking it the first EMU train in operation on Shimen-Changsha Railway. Changde and Yiyang in Hunan Province now enter the era of the EMU trains.

Located in the northwest of Hunan Province, Shimen-Changsha Railway starts from Shimen North Station of Jiaozuo-Liuzhou Railway in the west and ends at Laodaohe Station of Beijing-Guangzhou Railway in the east, with a total length of 265 kilometres.
It serves as a major railway corridor connecting central Hunan and northwest Hunan.

Since 21 September, eight EMU trains have been scheduled to be put into service on Shimen-Changsha Railway on a daily basis. The operation of the EMU trains is expected to effectively ease capacity shortage and greatly improve service quality during peak hours on the Changsha-Yiyang and Changsha-Changde sections.
