China: Pilot run of Xi’an-Chengdu dedicated passenger railway begins

On 22 November at 08:45, EMU Train 55252 set off from Chengdu East station and arrived at Xi’an North Station at 13:00 after a long journey. Xi’an-Chengdu dedicated passenger railway, the first high-speed railway which passes through Qinling Mountains, entered the pilot run stage.

With a design speed of 250km/h, the Xi’an-Chengdu Passenger Dedicated Line begins at Xi’an North Station and heads south to Sichuan Basin by way of Guanzhong Plain, Qinling Mountains, Hanzhong Plain and Bashan Mountain. The line is then connected to Chengdu-Mianyang-Leshan High-speed Railway before finally ending at Chengdu East Station.
