Representatives of the Ministries responsible for transport of Poland, the Slovak Republic, Hungary and the Republic of Slovenia signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the establishment of the Executive Board of the Amber Rail Fright Corridor at Brussels on 5 December 2017.

The Executive Board is responsible for defining the general objectives of the rail freight corridor and for supervising and taking the measures provided for in Regulation No. 913/2010.

The Amber railway corridor starts in the north from Warsaw and the Polish-Belarus border and ends in the south at Koper in Slovenia and at the Hungarian-Serbian border. The axis links important industrial centres and intermodal terminals to the Adriatic Sea and the Balkan States.

The Budapest-Kelebia railway line, which is to be upgraded, is part of the corridor.

The Amber corridor can play a prominent role in the transportation of goods to their final destination that arrive from the Far East to Poland by rail and to the port of Koper by sea.
