World High-Speed Congress in Ankara – Scientific and Organising committees met in Ankara on 15 February 2018

At the kind invitation of TCDD, the Scientific and Organising committees of the World High-Speed Congress met in Ankara on 15 February 2018.

UIC was represented by Marc Guigon, Director of the Passenger Department, Paul Véron, Director, Michel Leboeuf, Advisor for High-Speed Rail and member of the scientific committee and Hervé Aubert, Communication Department.
TCDD and CMS Project participated in the meeting.

Scientific Committee

As the selection and the parallel session programme have been agreed upon during the last Intercity and High-Speed Plenary Committee, CSM Project has been given the green light for sending letters to the selected speakers as well as to the speakers on waiting list or rejected. Guidelines and PowerPoint template will be sent to the speakers.

Invitation letters are being sent to parallel session moderators including guidelines. A training session will be held at the venue on Monday 7 May, to train the 25 moderators and the 10 assistants hired by TCDD.

UIC will send all the invitations letters to the Round Table participants. The scenarios for these Round Tables has been accepted. Moderators and co-moderators have symmetrical roles: introduction and conclusion of the Round Tables.
Two scenarios will be established for the Opening Ceremony and confirmed during the next Scientific committee.

The extension of the duration of the Closing Ceremony from one hour 30 to two hours has been accepted. Therefore, the ceremony will start at 3:30 pm instead of 4:00 pm. The scenario and the guests for this ceremony has also been agreed upon.
The slot for the UIC Alliance with Universities will be explained at the next scientific committee.

Accordingly, the Digital Plenary Session will last one hour, with 40 minutes for start-ups and 20 minutes for students.

Organising Committee

1000 hotel rooms has been pre-booked by CMS Project.

The congress App will be available for the next Organising Committee. It will be used by the attendees to find all information related to the congress, to chat with other participants, to ask questions and vote during the sessions.

Technical visits has been defined: visit of Ankara’s High-Speed station, visit of a maintenance centre for High-Speed trains, trip by train from Ankara to Konya, visit and return.

The next Scientific and Organising committees of the World High-Speed Congress will take place in Ankara on 21 March 2018 at the Congress Centre.
