Ouigo, the low-cost, high-speed transport offering from SNCF, is continuing its quest to conquer the French capital. Beginning on 9 December, it will offer services to and from Paris Gare de Lyon train station. Following in the footsteps of Paris-Montparnasse at the end of 2017 and Gare de l’Est in July 2018, Paris-Lyon is the third station in Paris chosen to host Ouigo TGVs in less than a year.
Passengers will be able to travel from France’s largest station to 11 destinations in southern France at the same low prices as ever.
Setting the sights on the south-east with Ouigo
11 new destinations — the same low prices
Ouigo already serves a number of destinations in south-east France from Massy and Roissy CDG stations. It has taken a strategic step forward by adding to its range of services with departures from and arrivals at Paris Gare de Lyon station. Ouigo now offers 11 destinations with departures from Paris and peripheral stations.
- Five city stations served from Paris Gare de Lyon: Lyon Saint-Exupéry, Marseilles, Aix-en-Provence TGV, Avignon and Valence, maintaining departures and arrivals to and from the peripheral stations of Marne La Vallée and Roissy CDG
- Six new destinations from Paris Gare de Lyon: Nice, Cannes, Antibes, Toulon, Saint-Raphaël and les Arcs Draguignan.
Heading north this time, Ouigo will also offer a new service arriving at Lille Flandres railway station. From the centre of Lille, passengers can travel to:
- The Greater Paris region: Marne-la-Vallée, Roissy Charles de Gaulle
- The South of France: Lyon, Marseilles, Aix-en-Provence TGV, Avignon
- Picardy: TGV Haute-Picardie
Sales begin on 11 October
Ouigo tickets for winter and spring go on sale on 11 October - customers will be able to reserve tickets for 28 destinations all over France, now with 11 destinations with arrivals and departures to and from Paris Gare de Lyon.
More than 11 million Ouigo tickets will be available for reservation between 9 December 2018 and 5 July 2019 on the ouigo.com website and the Ouigo app, as well as from authorised distribution partners.
It’s perfect timing for the Christmas holidays, but also an opportunity to get ahead and organise holidays and weekends away for the first half of 2019.
Ouigo: Five years of success and 33 million passengers
The low-cost railway revolution
Five years after its launch, Ouigo is continuing to gain momentum and is aiming to win 26 million new passengers by 2020 - 25% of high-speed traffic in France.
Its gamble on low-cost rail travel has so far been a success:
- 33 million passengers on its books since 2013, train occupancy rates of over 80% and 13% of all high-speed traffic by the end of 2018.
- A successful bid to win new customers: without OUIGO, six out of ten passengers would not have taken the train in 2018, and one in three customers would not have travelled at all (TNS Sofres survey, Summer 2018).
- Delivering on its “low price promise”: over the past five years, 65% of customers have travelled for less than €25.
