Russian Railways Logistics Ltd, a subsidiary of OJSC Russian Railways, has begun shipments of container trains loaded with vehicle kits from China to Belarus. The kits will be used at the CJSC BelGi plant, a Belarusian-Chinese joint venture which assembles China’s Geely passenger cars.
The first four container trains have already departed for their destination. By the end of 2019, it is planned to dispatch 50 container trains at the rate of one train per week
To implement the project, a special timetable was developed for the direct route from Chengdu in China to Zhodino in Belarus.
Containers with vehicle sets dispatched from Chengdu’s railway container terminal will be transported by rail through Mongolia (Zamyn - Uud border crossing), Russia (Naushki border crossing) and Belarus (Krasnoe border crossing) and will arrive at Zhodino station on the approach routes of the BelGi automobile plant.
Delivery time will be approximately 14 days, which is three times faster than by sea.
RZD Logistics is currently working on the possibility of organising similar shipments from other Geely factories in China to Belarus.
