As of 18 July, Mr Nuno Freitas took up the position of President of CP – Comboios de Portugal.
With over 20 years of experience in the railways, Mr Nuno Freitas joined Portuguese Railways in 1996 as production engineer at EMEF, maintaining electrical locomotives classes 2600/2620 (Alfa and Intercity loco hauled trains).
From 1998 to 2009 he was responsible for the maintenance of CP’s Pendolino tilting Electrical Multiple Units, applying the RCM (Reliability-Centred Maintenance) methodology since 2003. He became Assistant Director of EMEF Northern Maintenance Depot from 2002 and Director of EMEF – High Speed Maintenance Business Unit in 2009.
Mr Nuno Freitas has a degree in Electrical Engineering from Aveiro University, an MBA in Business Management from the Portuguese Catholic University/ESADE Business School and has completed the General Management Development Programme at AESE/IESE.
In 2009 he was awarded the title Expert in Transport Systems by the Portuguese National Engineering Society.
