East Japan Railway Company., Ltd. (headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Yuji Fukasawa; hereinafter referred to as “JR East”) intends to ensure “the provision of a better lifestyle” overseas as set forth in “Move Up 2027”, the JR East Group Management Vision.
On 27 August 2019, JR East acquired the right through JR East Business Development SEA from Land Transport Authority (LTA) in Singapore for the retail operator tender on the premises of the Thomson-East Coast Line, along with SMRT Experience Pte Ltd (SMRT) operator of non-fare business comprising retail and out-of-home advertising, and Alphaplus Investments Pte Ltd (Alphaplus) to operate Cheers convenience stores.
By combining the expertise of the railway and commercial businesses that SMRT and Alphaplus have cultivated in Singapore with the expertise of Japan-based EKINAKA, we will contribute to the improvement of convenience for users of the Thomson-East Coast Line.
