Two of Austria’s largest companies, voestalpine and Rail Cargo Group, jointly launched an innovation that sets new standards in the international freight transport market. TransANT has convinced the jury in the category “Increase added value.
Open up markets”:
1. innovative content
The jury assessed whether the product respectively the solution, is future-oriented, interdisciplinary, creative and technologically state-of-the-art. TransANT provides a completely new approach to wagon construction: a standardized wagon underframe in different lengths with modular superstructures that can be used universally for different goods to be transported.
2. implementation & system integration
The system integration and practical relevance as well as participative aspects of the development process were evaluated here. From the first considerations, the first technical drawing and the implementation to the first prototype were convincing.
3. positive effects on society & mobility system
The focus here was on criteria such as effectiveness & efficiency, environment & energy as well as safety and behavioural change. Due to its special lightweight construction, TransANT makes an active contribution to increasing the share of rail in the overall freight transport market.
4. Positive effects on business location & added value
The economic potential in terms of added value in Austria as well as turnover, export opportunities and employment was assessed. During the entire process of conception, research, development, planning, approval as well as production and maintenance of TransANT, the added value remains within Austria.
In addition, the user-friendliness and the gender aspect of the submitted project were also highly valued. Success has many faces. No matter whether man or woman, old or young, from Austria or from another country, equal opportunities and diversity change the corporate culture and make companies more successful. Because only through a broad variety customer as well as market requirements can be looked at from different perspectives.
