Cinérail 2008: call for film registrations from UIC members

After a successful 15th edition held in Paris in February 2007, the 16th Cinerail -International Festival Train & Metro on Film- will take place again in Paris on February or March 2008. This international event is co-founded and supported by UIC, SNCF, RATP, UITP and a large number of railway related partners. Cinerail Chairman is currently Gilles Alligner, Director of Communications of the Paris public transport company RATP.

An important part of the programme will be the presentation to professionals of the most recent audiovisuals produced for UIC member railways or for public transport companies. This unique international festival entirely dedicated to audiovisual communications and movies produced on railway themes, became after 15 editions a world-wide reference. It gives to professionals dealing with railway communications an extremely valuable opportunity to exchange on experiences and best practises in the use of audiovisuals.

The film presentations 2008 will be organised in UIC Headquarters (2 days programme) and combined with the annual meeting of the UIC Audiovisual Group chaired by Diego Marti, Public Relations, Swiss Federal Railways (CFF /SBB). A competition will take place in order to evaluate with an international jury the quality of audiovisuals presented and awards will be handed over to representatives of companies / producers.

In preparation of this international event, UIC member railways are invited to register the films / audiovisuals they intend to present internationally at this event, and send to Cinerail Organisaion a DVD for first viewing and selection.
Relevant categories are

- Corporate communications films (audiovisual ’business cards’, presentation of large rail projects, etc.),
- Commercials, TV spots,
- Internal communications on Staff training, Safety, Security,..
- Documentaries produced for TVs on railway issues,
- Feature films (cinema, TV) produced with support / sponsorship of UIC member railways.

Technical specifications for a presentation in Paris in February or March 2008 are
- films with English voice or English subtitles,
- not longer than a standard TV documentary (50’),
- Beta sp or Beta num/digit format.
