UIC Talent and Expertise Development Platform (TEDP), in partnership with Southwest Jiaotong University (SWJTU), provide the “Train the Trainers” session to foster innovation, collaboration, and knowledge sharing across regions for a successful Hackathon. The 2nd UIC TrainRail Hackathon aims to bringing together talented individuals from around the world to collaborate on innovative solutions that address the pressing challenges facing the railway industry.
Through engaging presentations by hackathon experts and SDG professionals, organizers and coaches from all regions will gain a deeper understanding of hackathons, including:
- SDG criteria: How to ensure hackathon projects align with sustainable development goals.
- Railway sector challenges: The specific issues and opportunities facing the railway industry.
- Maker spirit: The collaborative, problem-solving mindset essential for successful hackathons.
- Design thinking: A human-centred approach to innovation and problem-solving.
This enhanced knowledge will empower them to conduct more effective and impactful hackathons.

In 2014, he received a Ph.D. in electrical and electronic engineering from the School of Physics and Applied Sciences, University of Southampton, United Kingdom. Long-term research has been carried out on key technologies and equipment for rail transit grounding and reflux, high-speed rail overvoltage analysis and protection. As the first/corresponding author, he has published 30 SCI indexed journal papers (including IEEE Trans. 12 papers), including 2 ESI highly cited papers and 1 IEEE highlight paper. As the first inventor, 43 invention patents have been authorized. Participated in the formulation of 5 IEEE standards and 1 CIGRE standard.

Hackathon Basics and Best Practices: Organisers and coaches will integrate the foundational principles and guidelines for successful hackathons.
