IRRB Webinar on CES 2023 Trends - what are the possible applications for the rail sector

Tuesday 11 July, 12:00-13:00 CET Paris Time

Objectives
UIC has been active at CES Las Vegas and CES Government since 2017, participating in conferences and panels, delivering keynote speeches, and supporting the promotion of rail. UIC participated in CES Las Vegas last January to promote and advocate for railway digitalisation and to foster rail as the backbone of new transport mobility. The IPCC has just recalled the urgency of this issue, so UIC published its “Vision of Rail in 2030”, encouraging the allocation of funds to invest in the improvements of railway infrastructure, rolling stock and services, as well as innovation to decarbonise operations.

UIC has just published a first edition of a technical report describing the main trends in innovation, as well as specific innovations to monitor for potential transfers to the railways.
The webinar organized on 11 July 2023 will give the possibility to learn more about the trends that could be used by the rail sector.

Date and Time
Tuesday 11 July, 2023
From 12:00 to 13:00 CET Paris Time

Speakers and Participants
Mr Bhutani, Chair of the International Railway Research Board (IRRB), will open the webinar. And then the authors of the UIC Technical report will take the floor: Christian, Chavanel, UIC Director Railway System, Francis Bédel and Gilbert Réveillon, who also contributed to this report.

UIC members and all other interested parties are strongly encouraged to participate.

Expected Results
Following this first webinar, it is expected that an annual meeting will be set up to enable the UIC to share information directly with its members on the innovations observed during CES in Las Vegas. This meeting should enable the railways to benefit quickly from technological innovations that could be applied in this sector.
