The Central Reference File Database (CRD) (formerly known as Central Repository Domain) is a centralised database that stores Location Codes and Company Codes required by European regulation, and makes them available to users. The Database is hosted and managed by RailNetEurope. (http://ccs.rne.eu/crd/)
Prior to the CRD Database being established, UIC had developed the ENEE database which provided country codes and location codes – ie some of the data required by the CRD.
In order to help Railway Undertakings migrate smoothly their data to the CRD, UIC has however continued to host and update the ENEE database. This “parallel” running has taken place since 1 January 2015 and has allowed most railways to fully adapt their data exchange so to feed the CRD.
Four years on, and in view of the decreasing quality of the legacy system, UIC Freight – Passenger and IT have undertaken a review of the situation. The impact analysis and shown that the maintenance of ENEE should cease.
It is in this vein that we are informing you that the ENEE Database will cease completely as from 1 June 2019.
