UIC is pleased to share two posters and two videos released for the 13th International Level Crossing Awareness Day (ILCAD), which will be officially launched at an international conference on 10 June from 14.00 to 18.00 (CEST, Paris time), co-organised by UIC and Network Rail.

Should you wish to organise activities in your country on ILCAD Day, please contact fonverne at uic.org. This year, ILCAD is pleased to welcome new participating countries. Germany, Denmark, the Western Balkans (in particular North Macedonia, Montenegro, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Kosovo [1]), Croatia and Serbia have been ILCAD partners for many years now.

For more information on these countries, please visit https://www.transport-community.org/. The number of countries actively participating in ILCAD is usually around 40 on average. Over 50 countries have registered on the ILCAD website: https://ilcad.org/spip.php?page=participants

If you would like to attend the conference, please register at www.ilcad.org, where the programme is also available. The conference will be held in English with simultaneous interpretation into Spanish and French, and will feature prominent speakers from the road and rail sectors in Europe, America (North and South) and Africa.

These posters are available in English, Spanish, French and German.

The ILCAD theme for 2021 is “Distraction”. In cooperation with Network Rail, UIC has released two videos, available in English, Spanish, French and German.

Watch these films to understand how complacency and distractions at level crossings can result in crisis. People cross at level crossings every day, and trains can travel at high speed, so it is important that people pay attention and follow the instructions provided to them.

There’s a time and place to enjoy your “bubble” – but the railway is not one of them. Lives can change in a split second.

Distraction kills; take care as you cross, wherever your attention wanders.

Please share this important safety message with your friends and family.

The ILCAD international level crossing safety campaign is engaging with people who live, work and play near pedestrian level crossings.
