The EU-funded H2020 project PROACTIVE led by the UIC Security Division held its sixth consortium progress meeting online on 20 January 2021.

As the project has already entered the second half of its implementation period, the 15 consortium partners exchanged on the ongoing tasks and discussed the project activities planned for 2021 and 2022, which have been severely impacted by the continuing Covid-19 crisis and some of which will need to be further postponed.

The project team is committed to cope with these persisting challenges and adapt the project activities by developing back-up plans and using remote working as effectively as possible. The dates of the three field exercises have yet to be rescheduled jointly with EU H2020 project eNotice and a revised roadmap of the testing activities will be set out by March. At least one of the exercises will be based on a scenario of a terrorist attack using a chemical agent on the railway premises therefore leading to promising outcomes for railway security.

In terms of current research activities, the PROACTIVE survey on CBRNe-related Standard Operational Procedures (SOPs) is still open until 5 February: https://proactive.limequery.com/637547?lang=en It aims to collect answers from law enforcement agencies (LEAs) and first responders in the EU and associated countries.

In addition, three online workshops are planned in the coming weeks:

The next progress meeting will be organised in April 2021, most likely as an online event or as a joint (physical and remote) meeting if the context will allow it.

The PROACTIVE project (PReparedness against CBRNE threats through cOmmon Approaches between security praCTItioners and the VulnerablE civil society) has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No. 832981.
