The programme for the UIC Sustainability Action Week 2025 is now filling up, with confirmed speakers and provisional agendas now available. The week will kick off on Monday 10 March with a high-level plenary session and a cross-silo networking event where you can learn more about the tools and UIC platform projects, and take a look at the partners expo. With more than 100 tickets already issued, you will meet others who are passionate about sustainability in rail from all over the world.
Tuesday will see the first of two ‘Noise days’, with innovative interactive debates planned and confirmed speakers from members as well as the European Commission, the Asian Development Bank and academia. The latest in the series of Energy and CO2 workshops will also be held, this time focusing on long-term research prospects, and the TRAIN2BEqual Gender Responsive Station workshop will kick off at Montparnasse station. Places are limited for this, so book your place today! In the afternoon, why not join the Sustainable Tourism workshop where you will be invited to explore how rail and sustainable tourism are perfect partners and a key area of business growth across the world.
On Wednesday, those attending will have the chance to join the 6th edition of the Zero Waste workshop, which this time is curated in partnership with the Sustainable Procurement group ERPC and looks at the ‘Power of Procurement’ in bringing circularity to railways. Taking place in the afternoon is the first workshop session to be brought to you by the Taskforce for Transport System Resilience, featuring a multi-modal discussion focusing on rail interdependencies across road, maritime and airports. This includes a confirmed speaker from ADIF, who will share experiences from the recent floods in Valencia. This third day will end with a Sustainability Reporting Masterclass and World Cafe with speakers from EFRAG and KPMG.
Two final topics will close the week on 13 March: the Air Quality Workshop and the Sustainable Land Use workshop, which will be taking a deep dive on biodiversity issues, with a speaker who will share their efforts to avoid elephant collision.
