Laurent Fréchède, UIC Head of Rolling Stock and Energy Unit, gave a training session on rolling stock maintenance to the managers of Grands Trains de Senegal (GTS). The main topics included maintenance in general, and maintenance planning in particular.
During the 2-hour session, attended by 13 top managers from the GTS Maintenance Department, Laurent Fréchède presented the politics of maintenance, its development and main principles (including five levels of maintenance), its main requirements, maintenance planning and cost, the evolving of rules of maintenance and possible options for cost-saving. The session was concluded by a questionnaire to ensure that the material was effectively assimilated.
Training is a top priority and part of the primary management commitment for UIC Africa. Agenda 2063 is the blueprint of the African Union, and the African Integrated High-Speed Railway Network (AIHSRN) is one of the 15 flagship projects of Agenda 2063.
