Last week, UIC’s Management Board had the opportunity to visit the EOLE construction site in Paris.
The construction project aims to extend the RER E line to the west of Paris and is a major mobility project in the Île-de-France region. Eole will extend line E by 55 km.
The Eole works consist of new and renovated tracks and stations. Eole will provide a next-generation line E with two major innovations to improve capacity and punctuality via a new Control Command and Signalling system (NExTEO).
The new line E will significantly reduce journey times. And because the line will be the most interconnected line on the entire network in Paris and its suburbs, its benefits will be widely spread amongst the population.
