The first International Railway Congress will take place on 17 – 19 March 2019 in Vienna, Austria.
The International Railway Congress Vienna 2019 will be the largest business meeting of its kind for senior managers of rail companies and their related industries, as well as suppliers and customers with an interest primarily in long-distance cargo transport by rail. The Congress will debate and discuss the current and future challenges facing rail transportation. As we look at linking up the great railway networks and systems of the world for sustainable transport of goods by rail, the Congress will debate how existing best practice can point to for sustainable rail infrastructure projects of the future.
The event will look at best practice Public Private Partnerships that promote rail transport and interoperability at a global level, dealing with current and future challenges of transportation and fostering sustainable development.
Speakers will include representatives from the railway industry and public sector from across the world. Participation from UIC will include Mr Jean-Pierre Loubinoux, Director General, Mr Simon Fletcher, Coordinator Europe, and Mr Francis Bédel, Chief Digital Officer.
The congress is devoted to the issues of:
- Improving the efficiency of international freight and passenger rail traffic including digital technologies
- Using and developing the transit potential of existing international transport corridors
- Harmonising legal and technical regulation of rail transport, for example between Europe and Asia
