On 19 September, the Korean Ambassador to France, Mr Choi Jong Moon, visited UIC.
He met the Director General Mr François Davenne and the Coordinator of the UIC Asia-Pacific region Mr Vincent Vu.
He extended a warm message to Mr Davenne regarding his appointment as the new Director General of UIC and requested a continuous collaborative relationship with Korean members, including Korail, which sits on the management committee of the UIC Asia-Pacific region.
He gave great support to the IRaTCA training session which was to be held from 21 – 25 September in Korea.
Finally, he focused on the development of interoperability among South Korea, North Korea, China and Russia. He said “After denuclearisation in the Korean peninsula, railway business will dramatically increase. So let’s prepare together and give support to the Korean railway society.”
Mr Davenne and Mr Vu replied that UIC, on behalf of the large railway community around the world, would support the Korean railway society as best it could.
UIC, which continues to fulfil its role as the world’s railway community leader, has good relationships with other organisations such as OSJD. In addition, the IRS which UIC is focusing on will help significantly in the future.
