PKP Szybka Kolej Miejska w Trójmieście sp. z o.o. is a member of the consortium implementing the project: “PRocurEments of innoVativE, advaNced systems to support security in public Transport” (PREVENT).

PREVENT focuses on the possibilities of anticipating attacks on public transport by:

  • Enabling early detection of terrorist activities and potentially dangerous objects
  • Tracking detected people or potentially dangerous situations
  • Coordinating the response of security forces

The project consortium consists of 16 partners from countries such as Poland, Italy, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Greece, Spain and Israel.

The main goal of the PREVENT project is to provide the right technology for earlier detection of potential threats, tracking detected persons and coordinating the response of security services.

PREVENT also deals with the analysis of existing processes and practices in the field of public transport (existing technologies, legal regulations, etc.), analysis and assessment of threats and weaknesses of current solutions, construction of scenarios highlighting gaps between the existing and target state, analysis of technologies allowing to remove gaps in existing processes and solutions, analysis of technologies in terms of legal and economic aspects, data protection, and identification of common needs and priorities in order to prepare one joint pre-commercial order.

In August 2020, work on the project will end. The consortium’s work culmination will be the preparation of preliminary documentation for the tender procedure in the PCP formula.

Another project is being prepared, which is a direct consequence of the current one: PREVENT #2. It will focus on acquiring technological innovations for public procurers in the area of passenger transport, aimed at closing security gaps in the transport environment. At present, the application documentation for EU funds from the Horizon 2020 programme is being prepared to create prototypes of technology ideally suited to the needs of passenger transport. Work is also underway to create a consortium of partners for the new project.
