Objectives
The world railway today is increasingly integrating new technologies and tools from the fields of IT, digitalization and intelligent technologies, and particularly, the development and application of cutting-edge technologies such as big data, cloud computing, IoT, AI, is gradually transforming the conventional railway operation. Along with the emergence and iteration of new technologies, IT, digital and intelligent tools are expected to play an increasingly important role in the future railway development, providing new opportunities for safer, greener, more efficient and quality operation of the railway system, and serving as the driver for enhancing the competitiveness of railway transport worldwide.
This seminar aims at achieving the following objectives:
- Exchange knowledge and experiences on the applications of digital and intelligent technologies;
- Vision on digital and intelligent technologies as the enabler for quality development of railway;
- Explore the opportunities and progress of the emerging technologies and its application on mainline passenger and freight operation, maintenance and safety;
- Define the potential change and challenges of the integration of new technologies;
- Share the opinions on the research and applications of digital and intelligent tools.

Expected Results
It is widely acknowledged that the rapid development of new generation information technology has led to disruptive innovations to the conventional sectors. Amid this trend, this seminar is expected to enhance the communication and collaboration among railway research and innovation institutions worldwide, share the opinions and best practices on the digital and intelligent tools applied in the mainline passenger and freight transport, improve the common understanding of the opportunities and challenges which technological evolution may bring to the railway sector.
