The Shift2Rail JU funded project LinX4RAIL (Defining with the European industry a railway system architecture allowing migration, scalability and digital breakthroughs) aims at defining with the major players in the sector (Infrastructure Managers, Railway Operators and Industry) a shared global architecture of the rail system:
- Enabling systems design based on verified performance rather than specifications;
- Allowing migration and interoperability of the solutions between all actors, IMs and Industry (Control – Command and Signalling, energy management ...) in order to prepare the integration of systems in rupture (Autonomous Train Operation, positioning, etc.),
- Preparing the Digital Twin and set up advanced predictive maintenance systems. LinX4RAIL involves 16 partners (among which SNCF, DB, NR , Trafikverket, Alstom, Bombardier, CAF, Hitachi, Siemens, Thales ,...). This 36-month project was accepted in September 2019 within the ShifT2Rail Annual work programme 2019.
UIC is involved in the project as a linked third party with SNCF, mainly in the definition of a shared ontology for the Railway system. RailtopoModel , developed within the umbrella of UIC will also be instrumental for the federation of various subsystem models in the definition of a Conceptual Data Model (CDM) which will effectively enable the communication and simultaneous playing of different models for different subsystems.
