Talent and Expertise Development Platform (TEDP)

Background

Demands on railway organisations are changing: liberalisation, internationalisation/global market and supply chain, technical harmonisation and new technologies, as well as increasing service expectations, new social frameworks, demographic challenges and the loss of corporate knowledge.
These challenges also affect the competencies and skills of railway personnel.

The core objective of the Talent & Expertise Development Platform, coordinated by the UIC Expertise Development Unit & chaired by FS, is to enhance the effective operation of the different regional railway training markets, hence enhancing workforce development through sharing best practice in rail training across the entire industry.

Mission

  • To promote excellence in railway training through best practice models.
  • To identify new challenges and solutions for training & training technologies.
  • To provide a unique opportunity to share knowledge & experience amongst training professionals & managers.

Expected outputs

Having skilled trainers & a well trained workforce is leading to:

  • reduction of overall costs;
  • improved business performance;
  • enhance employees retention;
  • improved safety through better training & assessment;
  • maximise training efficiency & effectiveness and bring consistency throughout UIC members;
  • contributing to make railways a more competitive and innovative sector.

Organisation

The TEDP (Talent & Expertise Development Platform) meetings are organised twice a year, or once a year when the same year than the UIC World Congress on Rail Training).

The next TEDP will take place in Vienna on 04 et 05 April 2019

Day 1 - 4th April

8:30 meet inside main station at the venice lion monument near travel center (=Reisezentrum) Please have a ticket for public transport inside Vienna ready (2 single travel or tourist ticket) and travel together by underground
Welcome at ÖBB-Lehrwerkstätte Wien, 1100 Wien, Hebbelplatz 7 (near U1 Trostraße, 5 min walk)
9:00 Presentation of apprenticeship system in Austria and ÖBB in special
Campaign - Learning a profession at ÖBB

Practical information

To reach Hauptbahnhof please take only Railjet every 30 mins from Airport station nonstop, FIP tickets valid or the Airportbus to Hauptbhanhof (do not use S-Bahn or CAT because you have to change and walk)

Hotel recommendations:
Take a hotel near Hauptbahnhof (Novotel Wien Haupptbahnhof, IBIS Wien Hauptbahnhof, Star Inn Premium Hauptbahnhof, Motel One Hauptbahnhof, Hotel Zeitgeist)

Buy for day one a one day ticket for public transport 24 hrs (or longer if you stay at Vienna).
