This workshop, organized by the UIC Commuter Rail Transport Systems (CRTS) group, will explore strategies to enhance operational readiness, customer satisfaction, and sustainability in commuter rail services during such critical periods.
1.Context :
Efficient management of commuter railway systems during major events poses unique challenges and opportunities for urban mobility and public transportation authority’s worldwide. Large-scale events such as sports tournaments, festivals, and international conferences significantly impact commuter and regional rail services due to increased passenger volumes, heightened security measures, and the necessity for precise logistical coordination.
2.Objectives :
- To identify and analyze common challenges commuter rail systems face during major events.
- To explore best practices in operational management, passenger flow control, and security enhancement during events.
- To discuss the impact of large events on commuter satisfaction and overall service quality.
- To provide a forum for exchange among rail professionals and policymakers on improving preparedness and resilience.
