UIC-UNCRD Conference on Sustainable Railways in Asia-Pacific

14 April 2022 - ONLINE

UIC and UNCRD are pleased to invite you to a webinar dedicated to “Sustainable Railways in Asia-Pacific” to be held online on 14 April 2022 from 8am to 11am Paris Time.

Introduction

To continue and expand upon the dialogues at the 14th Regional EST Forum in Asia of the United Nations Centre for Regional Development (UNCRD) on the 18-20th October 2021, UNCRD and UIC are holding a joint conference that will focus on Railways.

As a continuation of our collaboration and meetings with international partners in the region, you are invited to join and learn more about the work of the International Union of Railways (UIC) in the field of Sustainability framed by UIC Vision for Rail 2030 and the Aichi 2030 Declaration on Environmentally Sustainable Transport - Making Transport in Asia Sustainable (2021-2030) issued by UNCRD on 20 October 2021.

It will be an opportunity to hear about best practices in sustainability from the Asia-Pacific region, as well as discuss the common challenges the Railways of the Asia-Pacific Region are facing in decarbonising. There will be a discussion to identify the opportunities for rail to help accelerate a green and just recovery from the pandemic. This online conference will be helpful for both policy makers and railway operators alike and an opportunity to collaborate closer as a railway community.
