The 2023 Sustainability Action Week held in Paris, between 27 February and 2 March 2023 was successfully concluded. The event gathered members of the Sustainable Land Use, Noise, Circular Economy, Energy and CO2, RSi tool, and Sustainable Finance, to share best practices, celebrate successes and grow networks. 👉 UIC Railway Noise Days (organised by UIC Noise and Vibration Sector)
The UIC convened the global railway community for a 2-day Railway Noise Workhsop (in-person) on February 28- March 1, 2023 in Paris. These Railway Noise days have been co-curated by the Noise and Vibration Sector (Sustainability) and Train Track Interaction Sector (Rail System) in UIC. The event will be designed to engage international noise and vibration experts and to spark new ideas and encourage knowledge sharing through interactive activities.

👉 Energy saving task force best practice exchange:
UIC launched the Energy Saving Taskforce in November 2022 to provide a platform for collaborative knowledge sharing on techniques to save energy, fuel and costs for railway operations. This hybrid event will be the culmination of this work, sharing and showcasing the most effective solutions and agreeing next steps for action in this area.

👉 Sustainable Finance workshop and RSi celebration day:
The UIC has recently completed the first-year collection and results from the Rail Sustainability index, which provides a unique rating system and a supportive digital platform to assess a company’s contribution to the achievement of the SDGs, featuring benchmarks and best practices, as well as the contribution of the sector.
On March 2nd, 2023 this one-day celebration event will end the weeklong UIC ‘Sustainability Action Week’ 27th Feb – 2nd March 2023. The event aims to both share and celebrate the sustainability successes of rail and facilitate a dialogue between the finance and sustainability communities from railways as well as experts from third parties such as private investors and multilateral development banks
